1976
In July of 1976, a building legacy was born. He didn’t know it at the time, but George Cook’s small construction company would go on to build well over 500 high-end homes along the rivers, oceans, and golf courses of the Lowcountry — Charleston, South Carolina.
1991
After 15 years of single-handedly managing Cook Construction, in 1991, George introduced his first partner, Rick Bonner, who brought years of procurement and construction experience to the table. This was just what was needed to grow the company, which became Cook Bonner Construction in 2000.
2013
Building in one of the fastest growing areas in the United States proved to provide continuous opportunity for growth. In 2013, David Ebeling, who had been with Cook Bonner for several years was added to the team of partners.
2020
In 2020, David would become the managing partner, allowing George and Rick to both step back and enjoy the fruits of their career. With the Lowcountry still trending as one of the hottest areas in the U.S. to live, David invited Tray McCune to join the company in the Spring of 2020.

Today, the building legacy of Cook Bonner Ebeling Construction continues as a staple in the Charleston construction industry.

David Ebeling
Principal
Isle of Palms, born and raised; just ask him. His feet heavily planted in Charleston, David grew up an Island boy and his calm demeanor and thoughtful consideration are fully reflected in his everyday life. He claims that his kids raise him, not the other way around. “They’ve taught me to be patient, to be understanding, and with three very different personalities, they’ve made me a more adaptive teacher; I’m a better person because of them “.
As a principal with the company, he is very meticulous and careful in the way that projects develop; from the initial interview down to the logistics of project management. Unwavering courtesy, politeness and his common sense approach to interaction with clients are what elevate the level of service that David offers our projects. Creativity and innovation keep him motivated to search out new ideas and concepts that reach to the ever changing audience that we cater to.

Tray McCune
Principal
Born and raised in Oklahoma, Tray now calls Charleston home. He and his wife Joy love raising their kids in a community that has such historical significance and an abundance of outdoor adventures. His upbringing taught him the value of hard work and building strong relationships; two values that have shaped the person he is today.
Before joining the team at Cook Bonner Ebeling, Tray built an award winning custom home building company in Stillwater, OK. As a principal, he brings a customer centered approach to each project, knowing that every new project is an opportunity to provide an unmatched customer experience. He emphasizes, “It isn’t enough to build a great house, the clients must also have a great experience or we haven’t succeeded.”.
Mike Reidmayer
Project Manager
Mike’s experience building custom homes on the Islands south of Charleston dates back several decades. He has a real team approach to managing projects and has succeeded in building some of the most challenging homes that we’ve had the pleasure of working on. Mike has been working in various capacities with the company for the last 15 years and is a great asset to our team.
Jay Hadwin
Project Superintendant
Jay Hadwin is a second generation carpenter, and a really good one at that. From the time he could walk, he’ll tell you about being on a job site watching, and learning from, his dad and their crew. He has a detailed eye for woodwork, and it’s been well earned. In this business, you could not ask for a better team member. Jay’s dedication to his work is unwavering and it truly shows in the quality of the projects he manages. He’s loyal, he’s hardworking, and he’s a great asset to our organization; we are really lucky to have Jay.
Eric Smith
Project Assistant
Eric has worked with Cook Bonner for over 20 years in the production field. His work and effort keeps our projects clean, materials protected, and progress moving forward.
Devon Adams
Selections Coordinator
Devon is in charge of helping our clients to stay focused and prioritize when making decisions that affect the construction schedule. She is very mindful of budgets, and with over a decade of experience at a plumbing, lighting and appliance showroom, she has a real understanding for the finishes that make our homes beautiful. The relationships that she builds with our clients add real value to the team here.
Jen George
Office Manager
You’ve heard of an infectious personality? Wait until you meet Jen George. She will make you smile, make you laugh, and make you get your job done all with the same great smile on her face. She is truly a pleasure to have around and we are grateful that she chose us to work with.
Jen grew up in Crofton, Maryland and moved to Charleston in 1998. She has a Bachelor of Fine Arts in graphic design from Colorado State University and always thought she would end up living near the beach. She married her husband Pat in 2007 and they have two beautiful children, Owen and Ellie. Jen’s communication skills and bubbly personality make her a tremendous asset to our team. Office Management, procurement, permitting, invoicing…she really does it all and we could not be more fortunate to have her.
